Camp Shalom campers love going on field trips!
Off-Camp Excursions are always part of our summers here at Camp Shalom and campers get 2 off campus excursions per week (with the exception of the last week of the session). Each session, the girls and boys (separately) spend 1 day visiting an Orlando Theme Park (Universal Studios, Universal Islands of Adventure, Disney’s Magic Kingdom, Epcot, etc…). This is an exciting time for the campers! Chartered buses depart around 8 AM and return at midnight.
Each session includes various local half-day trips. Whether going bowling, catching the latest flick at the movies, enjoying “An Around Town Scavenger Hunt”, Putt-Putt & BBQ or hiking, canoeing and hanging at a great lake – our campers always have a blast.
In addition to their separate “Local Half Day Trips”, Chalutzim (Grades 9 & 10) will have the option to take a Co-Ed Day Trip OR separate overnights. The Ichetucknee Springs river tubing excursion is a tradition at Camp Shalom and it’s certainly a highlight of the summer the campers look forward to.
This special trip is taken during the 2nd Session and offered only to campers entering 9th grade and above. Our impromptu blueberry picking trip has become quite a Camp Shalom tradition! Weather permitting, “Grandma” Shelley will surprise the youngest girls’ bunk with an afternoon trip to the local Blueberry Farm. Upon returning to camp, the girls join Shelley & Clarence in the kitchen to bake good old fashioned Blueberry Pies or Cobbler! A special and delicious treat!
