Prospective Families

Rookie Day

SATURDAY, JUNE 24, 9:30-9PM

What is Rookie Day?

Camp Shalom is excited to offer a Rookie Day Program! Rookie Day is a one-day program for prospective campers (entering 2nd through 6th grade) specifically designed to introduce them to the exciting world of overnight camp. Your child will have the opportunity to meet other prospective and current Shalom campers, and participate in many Shalom activities. They will be taken care of by a hand-picked group of warm and caring counselors who will help make sure they have an amazing first Camp Shalom experience.

In addition, each rookie camper will be buddied with a current camper who will spend the day with them.

Families can then enjoy some time in town and will come back to camp in the afternoon to meet up with their happy rookie camper!

Rookie Campers will meet at a designated location in Ocala and head to camp once everyone is together.

Rookie Day will provide campers and parents with a perfect way to learn more about Camp Shalom's programs, facilities and camp culture.

What will the parents do?

Once your Rookie Campers are off to camp, it’s time for parents to have some fun! Check out the local sites (Ocala and/or Gainesville), engage in some of the area’s activities, and enjoy lunch in town! Return later in the afternoon to pick up who we hope will be our future campers. Once on camp, parents and Rookie Campers will tour the camp and then have the opportunity to attend an information session with Camp Shalom Executive Director David Fried and Camp Owners Mike & Sarah Sokol, and some of our leadership team.
Why attend a Rookie Day?

We believe the best way to feel the warmth and magic of Camp Shalom is to come and experience it yourself! We understand that choosing the right camp is an extremely important decision. We feel that participating in Rookie day will allow families an ideal way to learn about the programs, facilities and, most importantly, feel the amazing atmosphere that exists at Camp Shalom. Families will have the opportunity to talk to current campers and staff, and meet members of our Leadership team. It is our hope that you will walk away with a feel for the wonderful type of families we attract, and the purposeful and intentional community we create.

Rookie Day Enrollment is Limited

In order to maintain a personal and quality experience, we will only be taking a limited number of boys and girls to participate in Rookie Day. There is no fee for the program. Campers will be accepted based on order of registration.
